Hummy is a new Swedish social media platform aiming to shift the focus from superficial content to genuine social connections by encouraging users to share videos centered on their interests. The project’s goal was to design a solution that makes it easy for users to engage regularly by creating and uploading videos while fostering a positive, community-driven experience. By using the Hooked Model, the platform encourages healthy habits and meaningful interactions without causing addictive behavior. Key elements include personalized notifications, interest-based challenges, and a gamified reward system that promotes authentic participation and reduces the pressure of perfectionism.
Brief:
Hummy, a new social media platform in Sweden, aims to challenge the industry giants by fostering joy, inclusiveness, and meaningful social connections. The goal is to encourage users to actively participate by uploading videos centered around their interests, creating a social space where passions and hobbies take priority over superficial content.
Project Overview:
Our objective is to develop a solution that lowers the barrier for users to upload videos, building a habit of regular engagement on Hummy. By applying the Hooked Model focusing on positive triggers, seamless action, variable rewards, and personal investment we aim to create a platform that promotes healthy user engagement. This approach is designed to cultivate a sense of community and personal growth through shared interests, without inducing harmful or addictive behaviors.
My Contributions:
I developed a comprehensive strategy using the Hooked Model to encourage healthy user habits, ensuring engagement without promoting addictive behaviors. I created a gamified reward system focused on community interaction and positive feedback, designed a content flow that emphasizes authentic sharing of passions to reduce the pressure of perfectionism, and outlined personalized triggers and notifications to inspire meaningful engagement based on users’ interests. Additionally, I proposed interest-based challenges and easy-to-use video templates to simplify content creation and increase participation.
